Horwich is proud to be a Fairtrade Town.
Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world.
Horwich Town Council resolved to support the town's bid for Fairtrade Status at its Committee Meeting on 14 June, 2004. By doing so we agreed to serve only
Fairtrade tea and coffee at all our meetings and to everything we could to raise awareness of Faritrade.
The Town Mayor was delighted to receive the official certificate that Horwich was a Fairtrade Town on 2 June 2005.
The selection of goods available from outlets in the town centre and also at Middlebrook Retail Park is extensive and the variety increases all the time.
Fairtrade goods are reasonably priced and are of excellent quality.
Please look out for the Fairtrade Mark when you shop in Horwich and support Fairtrade!
Horwich Town Council wishes to thank all the volunteers who work with our Councillors and staff serving on the Fairtrade Town Group. Also, thanks to all the supporters in the workplace who are committed to using Fairtrade goods.
