Christmas Lighting Scheme
Christmas LightsThe decorative Christmas lights, which really brighten up the town centre are provided by the Town Council. Don't miss the lighting of the Civic Christmas tree and carol service which takes place on the first Friday in December at the Crown roundabout, normally at 6.00pm.

Planning
We make recommendations to Bolton Metro about all planning applications in our Parish. Whilst they make the final decision about acceptance or refusal of an application, the local knowledge we provide is invaluable. Applicants and residents affected by planning applications may speak during the meetings of the Planning Committee. Please see the Horwich Live page for dates.

Town Centre CCTV Coverage
The town centre is covered by a seven camera CCTV Scheme giving protection for businesses and helping to promote a safe and welcoming atmosphere for both local people and visitors.

Web Site
WebsiteWe provide this attractive and informative site which also helps to draw visitors to the area. The 'Horwich Live' page provides FREE publicity for our voluntary and community organisations.

Newsletter
Up to the minute information about what we are doing and contact details for Councillors in our Quarterly Newsletter widely distributed throughout the Parish!

Remembrance Sunday Parade & Service
We provide the band for the parade and service, produce the Order of Service sheets and work hard to promote the event throughout the town.

Sponsorship & Financial Grants
We sponsor Horwich Carnival, Horwich Amateur Operatic & Dramatic Society, Horwich Prize Medal Morrismen, Horwich Heritage and Youth Express (we are now major sponsors of this group) in addition to making small grants to many local voluntary and community organisations. Grant applications are considered twice a year and application forms are available from the Public Hall and Horwich Resource Centre.

Civic Pride
We promote a sense of civic pride in our town in many ways. The Civic Medal is awarded to citizens who have provided many years of service to the community. Our pictorial boundary signs welcome you and help to maintain our individuality within the Bolton Borough. The Celebration Benches outside of the Public Hall acknowledge our most prominent landmark and the town's past association with both the rail and cotton industries.

Your Town Mayor is always kept really busy - opening shows and exhibitions, visiting our schools and churches and congratulating local couples on their Golden or Diamond Wedding anniversaries.

Heritage Trail
Public Hall plaqueLook out for the distinctive green commemorative plaques bearing the Town Council's crest which appear on five buildings in the town. They are the start of a heritage trail:

Public Hall, Lee Lane, Gorton Cottage, Church Street, Horwich Resource Centre, Beaumont Road, St Mary's Church, Chorley New Road and Former Post Office.

We Want To Hear From You
Whether it's the future of our market, or what you want from Old Station Park, or anything that affects the lives of local people - your Town Council is your local voice.

During the meetings of the Town Council and the Finance and General Purposes Committee, members of the public may speak on matters over which the Town Council has power or is of interest to the Parish (in accordance with the Standing Orders (rules) of the Town Council).
