The Resource Centre was officially opened by the Town Mayor on Saturday, 27 April, 1991.
It is a base for voluntary groups and supporting services. Voluntary groups use the Centre for activity sessions, committee meetings, luncheon clubs and fund raising events.
The number of groups using the Centre on a regular basis has increased steadily with weekly, monthly and annual events.
Supporting services are those considered to be of community benefit, such as child care, facilities for older people, the disabled and community education. Open to the public from 9.00am until 10.00pm Monday to Friday & from 9.00am until 4.00pm most Saturdays, it has the benefit of full disabled access and facilities. There is a warm, welcoming atmosphere and the staff are always pleasant and helpful.
Facilities for hire include a large hall, meeting and activity rooms. A fully equipped kitchen and coffee bar are also available. A public address system incorporating an induction loop is available for public speaking, along with video and monitor and O.H.P.
