Alice Kilcoyne (left)

Alice has followed in the tradition of public service established by the Kilcoyne family going back to the early part of the last centry. She has been Town Mayor on two occasions and has performed the function of Town Mayoress three times.

She also had the honour to be Mayoress of Bolton. As Town Mayor she opened Horwich Resource Centre in 1991 and served as both the Chair and Vice Chair of its Management Committee.

She has worked tirelessly for the benefit of Horwich including helping with the installation of the town centre CCTV scheme and contributing to the success of the annual gardening competition `Horwich in Bloom’.

She was Chair of St Mary’s Social and Recreation Club and was a long standing committee member. She was also a governor of both St Mary’s R.C. Primary and St. Catherine’s C.E. Primary Schools.

John Bragg (right)

John has given years of unselfish service to Horwich. He was Town Mayor twice. As a Divisional Superintendent in St John Ambulance he introduced a Cadet Division to the town.

He was greatly involved with the meals-on-wheels service and was Chair of Fox Street Youth Club and a member of both the Horwich and Blackrod Health Committee and the Community Health Council.

He was also a member of the Horwich Resource Centre Management Committee and became its Vice Chair, and he worked really hard to make `Horwich in Bloom’ the Town Council’s annual gardening competition the great success it is today.

John was a governor of St Catherine’s C.E. Primary and Lord Street Primary Schools and is still a member of the Horwich Visiting Service which provides much needed support for our elderly and vulnerable.
